How to download Instagram ads from the Meta Ad Library? - Blog post banner image for Swipekit

Saw a great Instagram ad? Note the advertiser, then find the matching creative in the Meta Ad Library to download it on desktop.

1. Find the advertiser in the Meta Ad Library

Choose the country and All ads. Search for the advertiser and select their Page.

Under Filters > Platform, select Instagram.

The brand's Instagram and Facebook names may differ, so check you've got the right Page.

Instagram's account information menu may link to the advertiser's ads. You'll still need to find the matching creative.

Match the image or video, opening line and offer. Watch for similar versions.

Open the ad's details and save its Ad Library link or Library ID.

The same ad may also run on other Meta platforms.

Found it on your phone?

Keep the advertiser name and any share link or Library ID, then continue on desktop. Swipekit's Chrome extension doesn't run inside the Instagram mobile app.

3. Download the video or image on desktop

Option A: use the browser's save option, when available

Play the video, then right-click and look for Save Video As. For images, look for Save Image As.

These options aren't available for every ad or browser. Check that you saved the creative, not a thumbnail or webpage.

Open the file to check it. For carousels, download each card you need.

Name the file after the brand and date. Keep its original extension: adding .mp4 won't convert or repair a file.

Option B: save the ad in Swipekit

Quick plug: Swipekit saves supported Meta Ad Library ads, including Instagram placements.

  1. Install the Swipekit Chrome extension and sign in to your workspace.
  2. Open the matching ad in the Meta Ad Library and use the Swipekit save button.
  3. Choose the board you want to keep it in.
  4. Open the saved ad in your library. Once processing finishes, use its image or video download control.
  5. Open the downloaded file to check the result.

Swipekit keeps the source and ad details with the creative. Check the saved assets: some variations or carousel cards may be missing.

Swipekit has a 14-day trial, then requires a paid plan for full access. Here's what happens after the trial.

PS: Instagram organic content is a separate source. This guide covers Meta Ad Library ads. See all supported sources.

What if the download fails?

Video isn't ready: wait for processing, then refresh. See the processing-delay checklist.

No browser save option: try the Swipekit workflow above.

File won't open: check the download finished and contains the media. See our download troubleshooting guide.

Source ad disappeared: the link may stop working. Save the assets while the ad is available.

Give the ad a home in your swipe file

Note why you saved the ad: the hook, offer or product demo. For client work, keep references in a dedicated board.
